Mission

Central Valley Central School District strives to work collaboratively with parents, students and professional staff to ensure that students with disabilities are provided with the support and services needed to encourage the acquisition of the academic, social and vocational skills. Special education services are available to any qualified student with a mental, physical or emotional impairment that affects his or her educational performance. For school-age children, this may include autism, deafness, deaf-blindness, emotional disturbance, hearing impairment, learning disability, mental retardation, multiple disabilities, orthopedic impairment, other health impairment, speech or language impairment, traumatic brain injury or visual impairment (including blindness). Early intervention

Although every child grows and develops at a different pace, there are tools that help determine whether a child is progressing or may need some extra help. A great resource is the Mid-State Early Childhood Direction Center. Their Developmental Checklist—Birth through Five offers a simple guide for monitoring a child’s motor, cognitive, language, and social emotional skills and identifying areas for concern. Central Valley CSD wants to work with you to ensure your child has the best possible start. We encourage you to explore the following links above. Child Abuse Hotline Notification

• If you suspect a child is being abused or maltreated (neglected), report it by calling 1-800-342-3720, a toll-free 24-hour hotline operated by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services. If you believe a child is in immediate danger, call 911 or your local police department.
